A metal guardrail post is mounted directly to the top of a stair stringer utilizing a one-quarter-inch thick stiffener plate welded with three-sixteenth-inch fillet welds typically. The assembly includes a one-and-one-half-inch diameter steel pipe handrail unless noted otherwise, with the fabricator required to provide shop drawings in accordance with building code requirements. Additional sizing, profiles, and detailing are coordinated with the architectural drawings.
