A thickened concrete footing supports the stair framing at the base of the stairs, integrated into the concrete slab on grade. The thickened section measures two feet wide at the bottom and one foot deep, with sloped sides extending twelve inches beyond each stringer. Reinforcement consists of number 5 bars spaced at twelve inches on center supplemented by two number 5 continuous bottom bars. The stair stringer attachment to the slab is provided by the stair supplier.
