A pipe or conduit penetrates a concrete slab on grade over firm undisturbed soil or compacted fill. The concrete slab features a thickened section directly beneath the pipe penetration, extending six inches minimum below the standard slab thickness with twelve inches minimum horizontal clearance. Typical slab reinforcing is placed within the concrete per plan. The subgrade beneath the thickened section consists of firm undisturbed soil or compacted fill.
