An HSS4x4 hollow structural section beam with one-quarter-inch cap plates at both ends connects to a vertical HSS5x5 hollow structural section post. A plate measuring one-half by six inches by zero feet nine inches is welded to the members with a three-sixteenths fillet weld on both sides. The HSS5x5 post is supported by a wide-flange beam sized per plan. A connection plate measuring one-half by six inches by one foot one inch is fastened to the wide-flange beam using four five-eighths-inch diameter A325-N bolts at standard beam gauge.
