Steel hollow structural section columns receive a three-quarter-inch thick cap plate welded across the top. Seven-eighth-inch diameter A325N bolts in standard holes fasten the assembly in typical configurations unless noted otherwise. Plate dimensions are sized according to column width, beam width, and the workable gauge of the supported beam per AISC Manual Table 1-1.
