A steel beam frames into a steel column with a bearing plate and a 1/4-inch cap plate welded to the column top. Two 3/4-inch A307 through bolts are installed in horizontal short slotted holes to accommodate movement. A 3/8-inch by 5-inch plate matching the beam depth plus a 1/2-inch center bearing plate connects the webs, while a 1/2-inch by 5-inch bearing plate supports the bottom flange. All structural steel is galvanized per project specifications.
