A guardrail mounts to a steel stair stringer sized per plan, with the upper rail assembly coordinated per architectural drawings. A one-quarter-inch stiffener plate provides reinforcement at the connection. A quarter-inch fillet weld secures the guardrail post to the stringer, and a three-sixteenth-inch fillet weld fastens the stiffener plate.
