An HSS header connects to an HSS jamb using a 3/8-inch by 4-inch plate and an L6x4x3/8 angle, secured with two 3/4-inch diameter A325N through-bolts. A 1/4-inch cap plate with a seal weld closes the end of the header, maintaining a maximum gap of 1/2 inch from the jamb. The angle is welded to the jamb with a 3/16-inch fillet weld on three sides. A 3/8-inch weld connects the header assembly at the top.
