Steel beams of varying depths frame into opposing column flanges with moment-resisting top and bottom connections. A bolted shear tab connects each beam web to the column flange, sized at the beam web thickness plus one-quarter inch. Continuity plates are welded between the column flanges, using the larger flange thickness of the two connecting beams. Sloped bottom plates accommodate depth transitions where the beam heights differ. Field welds join the beam flanges and continuity plates as specified by structural notes.
