A built-up channel stair stringer connects to a hollow structural section floor member sized per the stair plan. The stringer is notched around the hollow structural section and secured with a complete joint penetration weld. Additional structural support is provided by typical L2-1/2x2-1/2x3/8-inch angles and a three-eighths-inch built-up plate.
