This assembly connects steel stud wall framing to a wide-flange beam using powder-actuated fasteners. The top of the upper steel stud wall is secured to the top flange of the wide-flange beam using two Simpson 0.157-inch diameter powder-actuated fasteners spaced at 12 inches on center. The bottom of the lower steel stud wall utilizes a deflection track, which is detailed separately in drawing 6/S520, to accommodate vertical movement at the beam flange. Steel stud sizes and gauges are determined by the project elevations, schedules, or structural notes, while the wide-flange beam size is specified on the structural plans.
