A seismic isolation joint occurs at a steel beam supporting a metal roof deck. A three-quarter-inch by fourteen-inch by zero-foot-ten-inch steel bearing plate with a thirteen-sixteenths-inch by eight-inch slot accommodates a three-quarter-inch diameter through bolt. Two three-eighths-inch stiffener plates are located three-quarters of an inch from the bearing of each plate, paired with beam web stiffeners. A sixteen-gauge continuous bent plate with three-inch bends spans across the joint below the metal roof deck. A brace connects per detail eight on sheet S511, and a note explicitly requires leaving the beam unwelded to the seat with typical one-quarter-inch fillet welds specified elsewhere.
