A structural steel column above bears on a 1 1/4 inch base plate with four bolts and solid A36 shims as needed. The supporting steel beam is reinforced with a 3/8 inch stiffener plate centered below the column and welded with 5/16 inch fillet welds. Fillet welds connect the base plate assembly to the supporting members.
