Cold-formed steel studs connect into a deflection track with a minimum thickness of 43 mils, secured at each stud flange with at least one number 8 screw through the punchout. The deflection track maintains a three-quarter-inch gap below the overhead concrete slab to accommodate structural movement. Fasteners are spaced along the centerline with specified minimum edge distances of half an inch to three inches from the concrete edge. The stud depth dictates the vertical positioning requirements for fastener placement.
