A steel framing connection joins a supported beam to the web of a shallower supporting beam using a single plate shear connection. The supported beam is coped at both top and bottom flanges to clear the flanges of the supporting beam, maintaining a maximum offset of three-quarters of an inch or one and three-quarters of an inch from the beam centerline. Fasteners are spaced vertically at three inches typical, with a one and one-half inch edge distance to the first bolt. Additional bolt specifications, sizing criteria, and supplementary connection details are referenced to drawings 2/S7.02 and 3/S7.02 for both typical and special conditions.
