A structural steel beam connects to a supporting column where the column web is oriented perpendicular to the beam web. The beam flange is positioned above the column with a maximum one-half-inch clearance. Three-eighths-inch thick full-height stiffener plates align with the column flanges on both sides. Connections are detailed per structural drawing references.
