A steel wide flange beam connects to a hollow structural section beam using a WT section web plate. The bolted web plate connection requires a minimum flange width of four inches and a flange thickness not less than the web thickness. A cope is provided as required with a dimension equal to half the web thickness plus one sixteenth of an inch. A maximum clearance of three inches is maintained below the hollow structural section.
