A structural steel framing connection joins a steel beam to a wide-flange column flange. The assembly includes a one-half inch thick cap plate welded to the column top with five-sixteenth inch fillet welds on four sides. Shear plates and bolts are sized per the connection schedule, utilizing two rows of bolts where required with a bolt diameter denoted as db equal to one inch. Edge distances and spacing dimensions specify two times the bolt diameter minimum, three inch typical spacing, and one and one-half inch typical with one and three-quarter inch spacing where applicable. Perpendicular framing is omitted for clarity.
