Framing reinforcement for a roof deck opening spans between structural supports. A 16-gauge galvanized plate is secured over the deck opening using typical number eight Tek screws. The reinforcing plate extends to the next full rib on each side with a minimum six-inch overlap. Two continuous ribs are required on each side of the opening between adjacent structural supports. Deck reinforcing is omitted for penetrations less than six inches perpendicular to the deck span that fall entirely between deck flutes.
