A wide-flange beam is supported below a grid line, featuring a three-eighths-inch thick stiffener plate welded to each side with typical three-sixteenths-inch fillet welds along three sides. A hollow structural section hanger sized per plan extends downward, connected via an internal three-eighths-inch by seven-inch plate welded with quarter-inch and five-sixteenths-inch fillet welds. A maximum one-inch clearance gap is maintained in the assembly.
