The assembly consists of a deep leg deflection track secured to the overhead beam or slab using Simpson 0.157PDPAT-62KP fasteners spaced at 6 inches on center. Steel studs are positioned within the track with a 1-inch gap at the top to allow for vertical deflection of the structure above. Screws through the sheathing or gypsum board must be located at least 1 1/2 inches below the track to prevent binding, and no screws are permitted to attach the studs directly to the top track. An additional row of lateral bracing is provided for the studs, with specific bracing details referenced elsewhere.
