An hollow structural section brace connects to a gusset plate welded to a steel column and beam flange with fillet welds. Three-eighths-inch Grade 50 stiffener plates are welded to each side of the column web at the gusset plate and beam connection locations. A beam frames into the column flange using an extended plate connection fastened with two rows of A325-SC bolts. The hollow structural section brace features a slotted end at the gusset plate welded with quarter-inch fillet welds of specified lengths.
