A buckling-restrained brace (BRB) connects diagonally between typical steel structural columns and beams. The assembly incorporates typical gusset plates welded at the brace ends to transfer lateral loads into the framing system. The brace comprises an internal steel core housed within a continuous protective casing. Specific beam-column intersection areas are designated as protected zones to comply with seismic detailing requirements.
