A concrete slab depression runs parallel to the flutes of a metal deck supported by a wide-flange steel beam. The assembly incorporates a twelve-gauge formed steel plate supporting the edge of the four-inch maximum slab depression. Reinforcement consists of two continuous number four bars with standard ninety-degree hooks anchored into the depressed slab zone, alongside typical deck reinforcing. A one-eighth inch fillet weld spaced at twelve inches typical secures the components. The wide-flange beam size is specified per structural plans.
