An HSS12x10 hollow structural section beam frames into an HSS10.00 hollow structural section column via a 1/2-inch end plate welded to the top of steel with a 1/4-inch fillet weld on both sides and top. The column features a 1x12x1'-0" centered column cap plate welded to the HSS column with a 3/8-inch fillet weld. The underside of the beam connects to the cap plate with a 1/4-inch fillet weld 6 inches long on both sides. A 3/8-inch field weld with a 10-inch length connects the components on the underside.
