A floor opening through a concrete slab and metal floor deck is framed with structural steel angle headers supported by steel beams. The metal floor deck is secured to the angle frame with three-sixteenths inch fillet welds. An angle frame schedule provides maximum span sizes ranging from nine feet for an L5x3x1/4 angle up to twelve feet for an L6x4x5/16 angle. A note mandates contacting the structural engineer for openings greater than forty-eight inches. All framing connections use typical three-sixteenths inch welds.
