A W30 steel beam connects to a W18 column flange utilizing welded connection plates and bolted angles configured per Type C1 standards. A 3/4 by 7 inch plate measuring three feet long is welded each side with a 3/8 inch fillet weld. Additional connection plates including a 1/2 inch thick plate use standard bolts spaced at three inches typical with one and one half inch edge distances. Complete joint penetration welds secure the structural members with a minimum one half inch clearance maintained.
