A beam-to-column connection where the incoming beam flange is wider than the clear space between the column flanges requires clipped or modified flanges. A clip plate per the typical continuity plate clip detail is specified at the corner transitions with a two and a half inch minimum dimension. A three inch minimum dimension governs the transition zone as the beam profile tapers to match the column geometry. Reference is made to a separate typical incoming beam wider than column detail for additional framing requirements.
