This structural steel detail shows the weld access hole configuration for a buckling-restrained braced frame beam flange connecting to a column. The weld access hole follows the alternate detail per AWS D1.8, incorporating a thirty-degree angle and specific dimensional tolerances. The back-up bar must be removed, extending one-quarter inch minimum to one-half inch maximum past the access hole. A continuity plate is provided per the referenced sheet, positioned opposite the beam flange. Fillet welds and specific clearance dimensions of one inch minimum and two inches minimum govern the geometry.
