A structural steel column is welded to a base plate bearing on grout over a concrete foundation. Multiple anchor rods with double nuts and washers secure the assembly, with rod projection and embedment sized per the column schedule. A steel shear lug welded with a three-eighths inch fillet weld projects into an eight-inch deep recess in the concrete to transfer lateral loads. A two-inch shim space is provided beneath the base plate for leveling.
