A channel connects to a structural channel or hollow structural section column using a shear plate welded to the support and bolted to the web of the supported member. A shear plate of thickness "T" per schedule welds to the support with a weld size of "S" per schedule. The supported channel connects to the shear plate with "Q" amount of 5/8-inch-diameter machine bolts per schedule. An alternative hollow structural section column occurs where indicated per plan.
