A 362S162-43 metal stud brace connects to a metal deck oriented perpendicular to the framing condition. An L4x4x12-gauge angle, measuring 1 foot 6 inches minimum, fastens to the metal stud at the brace with two number 10 self-tapping metal screws into two low flutes for a total of four number 10 self-tapping metal screws. Three additional number 10 self-tapping metal screws secure the brace connection. When the brace length exceeds 9 feet 0 inches, a midspan connection with three number 10 self-tapping metal screws is provided into each stud.
