Cold-formed metal framing includes fifty-four mil stud blocking spaced at eight feet zero inches on center maximum horizontally and three feet six inches on center maximum vertically, secured with two number eight sheet metal screws to each stud. A continuous 11#2 inch by thirty-three mil strap is required at all stud blocking where finishes or wall sheathing are not present, fastened with one number eight sheet metal screw to each stud flange and four to each piece of stud blocking. Gypsum finish is applied typically to both sides where it occurs, and wall sheathing is provided where specified per plan. Stud blocking is only required at shear walls and at walls that do not have finishes on both sides.
