A vertical step in a concrete slab-on-grade is supported by subgrade soil. The upper and lower slab thicknesses are sized per plan, reinforced with continuous steel bars and tied with number three reinforcing bars spaced at sixteen inches on center through the vertical step transition. A railing assembly mounts into the upper slab surface as specified by architectural drawings. Dimension callouts indicate a six-inch step thickness and varying height transitions.
