A structural steel beam frames into a wide flange column using top and bottom L4x4x1/4 angles six inches long. The angles are welded to the column flange and the beam web with three-sixteenths inch fillet welds. A one-half inch clearance is maintained between the beam end and the column face. The wide flange column size is detailed per structural plans.
