A wide flange column connection features a backup bar to remain for gravity conditions. Complete joint penetration welds are specified on three sides typically. Dimensional callouts indicate a clearance of 'kdet' plus one and one-half inches, and a radius of 'k1' plus one-half inch. Additional plate and backing bar dimensions are provided along the plan view where the connection occurs.
