Cold-formed steel members are connected using powder-actuated fasteners driven through the thickness of the steel or self-drilling TEK screws. Powder-actuated fasteners in steel require a one and a half inch minimum fastener spacing. Powder-actuated fasteners in concrete require a three inch minimum edge distance and a four inch minimum fastener spacing with maximum penetration limited to one third of the slab thickness. Self-drilling TEK screws must penetrate a minimum of three threads past the final ply. Minimum edge distances and fastener spacings are provided for size number ten and number twelve screws.
