An HSS stub column connects to a supporting steel beam via a base plate assembly. The base plate is secured with four three-quarter-inch diameter A325 bolts. Three-eighth-inch stiffener plates are provided on near and far sides, extending to the beam flange edge with typical quarter-inch welds. A diagonal bracing member frames into the stub column. The steel detailer provides connection design for base plates at braced bays based on reactions indicated in framing elevations.
