A structural concrete slab expansion joint featuring a one-quarter-inch minimum gap filled with fibrous expansion material per architectural specifications. Reinforcing bars bridge across the joint, with one side wrapped in plastic sheathing and detailed with a two-foot lap splice. The thickened slab edge incorporates a twelve-inch minimum depth with a one-to-one slope. A vapor barrier and subgrade are placed beneath the slab according to geotechnical requirements.
