A wood nailer matching the steel beam flange width is secured to the top flange using seven-eighth-inch diameter welded threaded rods spaced at sixteen inches on center and staggered with a maximum three-quarter-inch countersink. Single threaded rods are positioned a maximum of nine inches from each end of the nailer and from each splice. Fastening consists of two rows at beam nailer spacing, with four lines where nailer spacing is staggered and six lines where three lines of nailing are required. A two-and-a-half-inch minimum typical dimension is maintained.
