A non-bearing concrete masonry unit wall bears on a thickened slab-on-grade foundation with two number five continuous bottom reinforcing bars. Vertical dowels matching the wall reinforcement with alternate bends extend from the footing into the masonry cells with a lap splice. The concrete surface is roughened to a quarter-inch amplitude and cleaned prior to masonry installation.
