This structural detail shows a field splice for a broken back or bent beam configured with complete joint penetration welds at both the top and bottom flanges. The beam web is joined with a complete joint penetration weld as specified per plan. The connection maintains the directional change of the structural member using continuous full penetration welds across all intersecting steel elements.
