Wood lagging boards span between steel soldier piles set in drilled shafts filled with lean concrete. Each board requires a one-and-one-half-inch minimum bearing on the pile flange with two sixteen-penny nails per board bent tight over the flange. Shims are added as required to ensure full bearing against the flange. At corner conditions, a continuous two-by-four wood cleat is installed with four sixteen-penny nails per foot. The maximum spacing dimensions are eight feet by eight feet.
