Cold-formed steel wall studs terminate below a structural overhead assembly with a vertical deflection gap. A ClarkDietrich Building Systems deep leg deflection track attaches to the overhead structure as required per design. A matching ClarkDietrich deep leg capping track fits over the top of the wall studs, with the inside dimension of the outer track measuring one-eighth inch greater than the stud depth. One number 10-16 self-drilling screw secures each flange of the capping track to the stud, while track-to-track connections remain unattached to allow for vertical movement. The engineer of record verifies the required gap depth.
