A square structural steel column is anchored via a base plate and anchor bolts positioned inside a circular concrete blockout. The blockout maintains a two-inch clearance and is filled with concrete after column erection. Control joints intersect at the perimeter, and a quarter-inch to half-inch closed cell form with elastomeric joint sealant is applied where required.
