An HSS8x6x1/4 hollow structural section column ties into a concrete masonry unit wall utilizing a one-quarter-inch steel bent plate with four-inch legs. A track strap is secured to the angle above and below the HSS using one-eighth-inch welds with fourteen-gauge material. Studs above and below the HSS are anchored using one-half-inch diameter Titen HD anchors with a four-inch embedment into the masonry at sixteen inches on center and within four inches of ends. The right flange of the track strap is clipped to allow for a lap over the angle with a five-inch minimum dimension.
