An HSS post connects to a supporting steel beam using an L8x8x1/2 angle at each post, fastened with three-quarter-inch-diameter A325 bolts at each end. Additional framing features HSS6x6x1/2 members spanning between posts with top and bottom L4x4x1/4 angles welded with three-sixteenth-inch fillets. A 3/8-inch stiffener plate is welded to the wide flange beam web with three-sixteenth-inch fillet welds on three sides to reinforce the connection. A maximum one-inch clearance is detailed at the beam web connection.
