A wide-flange beam or channel connects to a hollow structural section column using a welded shear plate and structural bolts sized per plan. A cap plate is welded to the top of the hollow structural section column with a quarter-inch fillet weld. The beam web attaches to the connection plate with three bolts, while the plate is shop-welded to the column face. Additional weld and framing notations indicate top-of-steel elevations and plan symbols.
