A steel beam is set tight to the underside of an existing concrete slab or grouted solid. A steel plate measuring 1/4 inch by 4 inches by 0 feet 4 inches is secured with three-quarter-inch diameter expansion anchors spaced at third points of the beam span. One plate is provided for beam spans less than 15 feet. A fillet weld connects components with a 3/16-inch size.
