A wide-flange beam or channel frames into a hollow structural section column using a bolted shear tab connection sized per plan. The column is capped with a top plate secured by welds, and a one-quarter inch fillet weld attaches the connection plate to the structural steel column. The number and size of bolts are determined by note three on the structural drawings. Additional weld symbols designate specific field and shop weld requirements for the framing members.
